What makes us different

Childcare while you are at work or need some time.... but also so much more:

An adventure for your child in getting to know themselves, finding their confidence, discovering their strengths and exploring the treasure-chest of beautiful places we have on our doorstep.

We are so lucky to live in this area with beaches, forests, gardens, lakes, hills, stately homes, castles, rivers and so much more to explore.

We love getting out and about! Wellies, waterproofs and a hot chocolate keep us going when needed. Okay.... sometimes a whole change of clothes may be required after the more extreme muddy puddle jumping!

Focused on school age children we are free to have big adventures. We serve this age range specifically and are able to succesfully meet each child's unique needs.

After School Club

image47

  • We eat healthy food, emphasizing that this is achievable and enjoyable.
  • We can collect from most local schools.
  • Monday to Thursday we have dinner together. On Fridays we have a snack together. We are passionate about providing new flavours to broaden the children's food horizon!
  • We share the planning, preparing and clearing up of meals. A dose of team spirit!
  • Our After School Club is relaxed and easygoing. On weekdays the children have had busy days at school so we tend to take it easy. Sometimes we do go out for a walk and some fresh air but we decide as we go, based on how the children feel.
  • We have a field and a play park behind our house which is handy as time is limited after school.
  • We also enjoy making things and have a great selection of craft materials. Being creative is calming and therapeutic.

Saturday Club

  • Saturday Club is convenient for parents who work at the weekend as well as busy people who have a long to-do list and need some time to get things done.
  • Perhaps you just need a rest?
  • Another good reason is that not everybody loves taking the kids out in all weather to burn off steam like we do, we love it!
  • We will spend some time having breakfast together and preparing our picnic lunch as a team.
  • Good eating habits are encouraged. Children soon get used to eating things that they may not eat at home. We have heard many parents exclaim "they won't eat that at home!' The group environment supports these good habits and eating what everyone else is, becomes the norm.
  • Then we go on an adventure and get some exercise. We aim to give the kids back happy and tired. They may have a bag with muddy boots to go home with!

Holiday Club

  • In the holidays we have plenty of time for even more adventures! The children always need some rest in between the school terms so this is not boot camp.
  • We are out and about as much as is practical but this does not mean we will be out trekking every day. Consideration is given to the energy levels of the children, what else we have been up to that week and the weather. Rain does not stop us but we are mindful of adverse weather or too much hot sun.
  • Much like the Saturday Club, we spend some time in the mornings having breakfast and preparing lunch together. Lunch is often but not always a picnic.
  • Pebble painting, drawing, reading, playing games, spider hunting in the garden, cuddling the dogs or a cat are great ways to relax.
  • Depending how busy our day has been, there is a time and place for relaxing watching television. This is minimal but we are practical about this.

Happy

Happiness... a contented, calmness on the inside. Being relaxed, feeling free and a reassuring self confidence.

Wellness starts in the  mind.  This is our primary goal, to help children feel good about themselves and their life. The foundation of what all our children need and deserve!

Friendship, company, communication, contact with nature and to feel a part of something, to belong.

Today's world of social media and perfectly edited images challenges the confidence our children have.

Kids can be so resilient yet are also fragile as they develop emotionally.

We aim to create friendships and positive bonds between ourselves, the children and our pets. We have several furry members of the team employed as cuddle-monsters and ball-fetchers. We find they can work magic with the quiet ones. They can tell who needs their attention!

Healthy

Good healthy food, the fuel kids need.

We are passionate about this.

Introducing a wide variety of foods to the children in our care gives us great satisfaction.

Teaching the younger generation how to nourish themselves is a precious life skill with real implications for the rest of their lives.

Advertising, cheap, easy options and lifestyle changes mean that it's harder for children today to make the right choices than it was just a generation ago.

Our children need knowledge to help them pick the foods that nourish their bodies and making these choices wisely must become habit at an early age.

As well as all the sensible reasons listed above, trying new foods is great fun!

Together we prepare nourishing snacks and meals. We also tidy up together sometimes. We learn to work as a team and to look after ourselves for today and long term health.

Eating together is good for the soul.

Active

image52

Being active keeps us well, body and mind.

Children need activity, contact with nature and time to be mindful. This is what we do best.

As parents we have so much to juggle, there's never enough time to fulfill all of our good intentions and frequently the  task of a day out in the fresh air is more than we can manage. This is where our service is designed to actualize your good intentions, all while you are at work, perhaps doing something else that needs doing or maybe just nurturing your own needs as a person.

NHS UK says this about exercise at any age:

"People who exercise regularly have a lower risk of developing many long-term (chronic) conditions, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and some cancers.

Research shows that physical activity can also boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy, as well as reducing your risk of stress, depression, dementia and Alzheimer's disease."
